The time had come...

...to begin work on the first production. In order to drum up interest in town, Kate began posting flyers looking for cast and crew. As Kate approaches another pole, we hear a familiar voice.

Puzzled by this curious encounter, but undeterred, Kate continues on her way. This will hardly be the only ambush Kate receives in putting up her flyers. Indeed, just a little while later, another voice stops her. Although, from her reaction, this is no friend...

Dana Alt, small town actress and high school nemesis, throws her (only in her own mind) weight around with Kate. Kate, however, is only sort of buying into it. She's begun to let her enthusiasm for the theater seep back in, and this overblown diva isn't going to push her way into the show.

At least, that's how Kate feels. Often when stubborn and delusional join forces, the results can be endlessly frustrating for the rest of us.

As Kate settles in to begin her auditions, her...friend? Martin joins her. She's ready to take on the world, but the world may have other ideas...

Indeed, sometimes having just the right mean thing to say at the exact right time can be so effective that, well, you feel terrible for how well you've dressed a person down. After releasing years of high school anger and, frankly, some adult years' insecurities to boot, Kate feels what most people do in the same situation: remorse. No matter how rotten a person is, if you're not rotten yourself, it doesn't make you feel good to let loose on them. Our hero then does the thing that separates the remorseful from the truly classy, however.

She gathers up her humility and her guts, and goes to Dana's house to apologize.

Not only have we begun a new adventure, but these two have begun a begrudging...friendship isn't the right word. Perhaps moreso a mutual understanding that, despite some conflicting egos, they have parallel goals and aspirations, and the only way they're going to reach them is by joining forces...even if they kill each other in the process.

Just as one conflict appears to right itself, however, things take a turn for the complicated. Learn more about the secrets of Alvin, and the town itself, in...

...episode four!

...and then there's Dana.
